Helping college students meet their financial needs
The rising cost of obtaining a college education has made it increasingly difficult for many students and families to realize their dreams of earning a college degree. As an attorney, Brian Zeiger understands the value of education as well as the financial strain that being a student can often entail. In an effort to help students meet their financial needs, The Zeiger Firm is pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship to each winner of the biannual Brian Zeiger college scholarship essay contest. Details regarding the contest and application procedures are detailed below.
The essay contest
In order to participate in the contest, prospective applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited United States college or university or planning to attend one in the fall 2016 semester. Applicants should submit a 500-word essay answering the following question to the email address provided below:
My good friend and professional cyclist David H. Sylvester has announced a new Hugs & High Fives Tour. This summer Dave will travel, on his bicycle, from San Bernardino, California to Philadelphia, PA. He will be stopping at many cities along the way.
Responses will be judged on the following criteria:
- The quality of the writing
- The thoughtfulness of the response
- The applicant’s demonstrated potential for success in a field of study related to law
I’m a Finalist – Now What?
Now it’s your turn to share your hard work! The finalists will be responsible for promoting their entries within their social media network – get your friends, family, and followers to like your essay for the best chance to win! The winner will be determined by the amount of social media “buzz” the winning essays generate on Facebook. The person with the most Facebook “Likes” will win!
In order to apply, applicants should submit their essay to firstname.lastname@example.org by 10/01/16. In addition, applicants must include the following information in the body of the email to which their essay is attached:
- Their full name, address, and phone number
- The name of the institution they are planning to attend during the winter 2016 semester
- Contact information for their parent(s) or legal guardian, if an applicant is under the age of 18
- Links to the applicant’s social media profiles, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google Plus, if applicable
